Choosing the Excellent

This is Zeke, our five year old male Yorkie playing with his favorite toy.  It is a pink poodle.  When he was a puppy our neighbor gave him a blue toy and his sister Libby a pink toy. He expected Zeke to like the blue toy, he did, but he LOVED the pink poodle!

They looked a lot cleaner 5 years ago!  The blue toy is no longer.  Libby, Zeke’s sister, doesn’t play with toys. This is what the pink poodle looks like today:

She is missing a tail, an ear, and an eye.  but she looks better than Zeke’s other toys:

I am not sure what this toy used to be.  :0)

Zeke has decided the pink poodle is his favorite toy.  We have toy boxes filled with doggie toys, but the pink poodle is excellent and has never been torn to shreds.  Pink seems to be his favorite color.  Not sure why! Today I read a verse that really spoke to me.

Philippians 1:10 KJV
That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ.

Each day we have choices to make.  Many good things that need to be done.  But we need to focus on the excellent things.  So today I am asking Jesus to help me sort through my to do list and choose the excellent things.  Zeke thinks his pink poodle is excellent enough to save for the past 5 years.  I want to do the same. Looking for things that really matter, and laying aside things that can wait.
