Holding on to Green

DSCN0084

We are in a drought in our part of Texas.  Stage 2 drought conditions means we water once a week.  Not great news for the plants and grass.  It is supposed to jump up into the three digit numbers for temperature this week.  So today I am holding on to green as long as I can.  Cherishing the colors of green while they are still here.

There is a special beauty in green fruit right before it ripens.  Promising and hopeful!

Psalm 85:10-13 MSG

Love and Truth meet in the street, Right Living and Whole Living embrace and kiss! Truth sprouts green from the ground, Right Living pours down from the skies! Oh yes! God gives Goodness and Beauty; our land responds with Bounty and Blessing.

Heavenly Father,
Please send rains to our land and refresh places that need water.  Even more, Lord, give our hearts Living Water that never runs dry.  Help us to pour it out on a dry and thirsty world! Thank you for the hope I see in green!  A hope that only You fulfill!
Thank you!
Amen

Karen, thank you for this encouragement that is refreshing even to those of us not in drought conditions. In a chaplain’s meeting I attended last night, we were reminded that pain and painful situations such as drought do not exist as things we must rid ourselves of in order to restore our personal comfort. But just as you have so eloquently pointed out, we can find what the Lord is saying in the midst of pain and discomfort. In this drought, you have chosen to press into the Lord and flourish instead of becoming dry from bitterness. God bless you and your ministry, and yes, may He bring cleansing, healing rain to your land and people.

    Counting it All joy,
    Jacquie
