For Jim

Jim at the pond

He has taught me many things

This man who’s heart I love.

To capture and release all the

Bugs that try to invade our home.

To stop and rub a dog’s head

Every chance you get.

To look for beauty even in

The most barren seasons,

And when found to stop,

And take note.

To share positive thoughts

In a negative world,

With words that change my attitude

In the blink of an eye.

Today is your birthday,

Today I write for you.

Thank you for being a patient teacher

Of a slow learner!

Happy birthday my love!

Happy birthday Jim!

Always

always

I don’t often write about topics other than my walk with the Lord.  I know this is Holy Week and I don’t want to take anything from this special time but tonight I felt like I had to write about something different and very personal.  The past few weeks have been tough.  My mom had a heart attack and we had to move her from her Assisted Living apartment to a Skilled Nursing facility.  A lot of emotion and stress were involved in this fourth move in the past 2 and a half years.  No matter how challenging it has been, and that is putting it mildly, one thing has stayed constant and positive.  The man who holds my hand and lifts and moves boxes, and hugs me at just the right moment and knows when to say something and when to be silent, my perfect puzzle part, Jim Worth!  He has always been there.  Don’t get me wrong, Jesus has been there too, but without Jim I would NOT have made it through the past few years.  So tonight I want to say out loud, Jim Worth, it has always been you and it will always be you.  I love you more than letters on a page can ever jump out and shout,  more than rain drops in a drought, more than tears I dare not allow to flow from my eyes, more than you will ever know.  You are the one, you are the one I love!

Chalk

This story happened years ago, but my love for my husband remains strong and true.  Today we celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary.  40 years of true love!  I love to remember this day when my young husband expressed his love for me in a memorable way.  Here it is:

I walked out the front door to take Dawn to school, and etched on the sidewalk in chalk, Jim had lovingly written, JNW loves KTW in the center of a huge heart with an arrow through it.  Well it just sent me into orbit and back again.  What a neat surprise!

As I looked closer, I noticed the chalk was left on the sidewalk as if waiting for some response.  I picked it up and wrote DITTO, dotting the “I” with a heart, and put an exclamation point on the end.

Jim, thank you for 40 years!  Thank you for all the times you have supported me and thank you for the encouragement I needed to be ME!  Because of you my faith in God is deeper and stronger than it would have been alone!  I was lonely before YOU! Now I am the happiest woman I know!  I love you forever!  Karen

Love, love, and more love!

DSCN4181

I have never truly gotten my head or heart wrapped totally around the concept of “Unconditional Love“.  I still think if I do certain things, God will love me more.  I know that is untrue, but I still sort of believe it.  Today I read these verses and they filled my heart with thankfulness and relief.

Jeremiah 31:3 (Message)

God told them, “I’ve never quit loving you and never will.     Expect love, love, and more love!

RSCN0498

So today I am expecting love from God.  I run into His presence with excitement because I get to spend time alone with Him.  When the Bible uses a word more than once it is significant.  Three times means….this is IMPORTANT!  Love, love, and more love!  What a precious gift!  I love you too Jesus!

What I was made for

DSCN8106

I was sitting in church before the service started last Sunday and the song What I was made for by Big Daddy Weave was playing.  I came home and listened to the lyrics and really thought about what God did for me!  I was made to love Him!  I had a comment on my last blog, asking me,  “How do you, yourself, express your love for God extravagantly?  In other words, what do you actually do in your relationship with God that you consider extravagant?” Hard question to express with just words.  My love for God is so much bigger than I can put in a blog or write in a poem.  It is a relationship that I cherish and guard with all that is within me.  You see I was truly made to love HIM!!!!!!

“Good-bye to my old life
I don’t listen to those lies anymore
You’ve given me new life
Loving You is what I was made for

You saw right through me
Your kindness drew me
Your mercy knew me
You love came to me”

Take some time and enjoy this song.  I actually played my drums along with it :0) Yep! It is awesome and so is God! Had a bad day, dance it out!  Dance until you feel better!

Three things

RSCN7802

I found this Scripture and decided I need to focus on these three things in my life.  If I really apply them, it might really change me and maybe even a few of my circumstances!

DSCN7789

1 Corinthians 13:12-13

The Message (MSG)

“We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us!

But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation:

1. Trust steadily in God

2. Hope unswervingly

3.  Love extravagantly (or as we say at MOPS… Love wildly!)

And the best of the three is love.”

RSCN7804

If I truly trust, hope, and love, I will be too busy to worry, complain, and waste my time! So for now I am focusing on the three until the fog clears and I see Him face to face!

Expect Love!

11/1

Jim took this picture this morning while the dew was on the leaves.  Love it.  God’s creation at it’s best.  Today I am writing something a bit different.  I have recently noticed when I look at the time, I often see the number 11.  Like for example, 8:11, or 11:30, you get the idea.  Well I decided that every time I see the number 11, I am going to focus on how much I love God and how much He loves me.  So when I see the number 11 on the clock, I stop and have a moment with Him.  So today when I had my quiet time and I wrote in the margin of my Bible, 11/1/12, to date the verse I underlined, I got to  tell Him of my deep deep love.  He responded with precious verses and His precious love.  Look around your house throughout the day, microwaves, the computer, the DVR, and see if you notice any 11’s.  Why did I choose the number 11?  I don’t know, it really doesn’t matter.  What matters is I love Him and He love me.

No worries!

Our wise pastor said that when you worry look at the birds and flowers and remember the Lord loves you.  If He takes care of the flowers and birds, He will surely take care of you!  Jim captured some photos today that are so beautiful that they drove this point home.  Breath taking!  God’s creations is amazing.  His love is unending! If you are part of the storm on the East coast, just know He loves you and many are praying.  If you are in a different type of storm, hang on, His love is there to lift you up!  Be of good cheer!
